Delicious Cocktails to Make in a Cocktail Shaker

Have you recently invested in a family home bar? If you did, you’ve certainly bought some important bar equipment, like a cocktail shaker from Drinkstuff! But if you’ve never cooked with alcohol before, now’s the time to learn.

Making a cocktail for your guests is one of the most pleasurable things you’ll ever do. However, if you botch it up, it might be a bit mortifying.

Nonetheless, preparing a cocktail isn’t difficult. You may practice until you get good at making cocktails by following these few simple recipes.

For your convenience, this blog provides some interesting cocktail recipes that you can make in a cocktail shaker.

Let’s Get Started!

Martini

Backstory:

Since James Bond made it famous, Martini has become almost synonymous with cocktails. However, it had been around for a long time. In 1863, the name Martini was taken from an Italian vermouth company.

Around the same period, in San Francisco, a cocktail called Martinez became popular. This drink included vermouth, gin, Maraschino liqueur, and bitters.

The drink was later altered by removing the bitters and Maraschino; as a result, the classic Martini was created.

The Martini’s reputation as a man’s drink has grown over time, thanks to its “he citrus essence of a lemon twist,” or brine-y olive tone, which gives it such an edge.

To make a starter Martini, you’ll need:

  • 1 oz dry vermouth
  • 2 oz gin
  • A cocktail shaker

Procedure:

Remove the cocktail shaker from the freezer. Add ice to it and then add your dry vermouth and gin, giving the mixture a gentle stir. You don’t have to shake the drink because you’re not adding fruits specifically.

Pour the liquid into a glass after 10 seconds of mixing. Now, garnish it with a lemon slice and serve it cold.

Gin and Tonic

Backstory:

Gin and tonic have been around for a long time. It was rather an ingenious creation by the British soldiers of the British East India Company during the 1800s when there was a malaria epidemic that plagued them frequently.

To counteract this, the soldiers had to take quinine. However, the quinine was harsh, so the soldiers combined it with gin, lime, sugar, and water to make it more palatable.

This soon became fashionable and sparked the development of today’s gin and tonic.

The gin and tonic is a well-known beverage that’s excellent for the warmer months. The lovely combination of gin, tonic and a citric lime wedge relaxes the body while cooling it.

You’ll need the following to mix a simple Gin and Tonic:

  • Tonic water, gin, lime wedge
  • Ice
  • Cocktail shaker

Procedure:

Pour a little ice into the cocktail shaker, then chill the glass. Add lime and gin to taste before stirring for 10 seconds. If your cocktail shaker doesn’t have a strainer, use one now.

Fill the cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Remove the strainer from the mixer, place it over the mouth of the cocktail shaker, and pour in the liquid. Serve chilled with a lime wedge on one side.
