2. Sammy Sosa (Oshiwara)

Never judge a book by it’s cover and never ever judge a restaurant on it’s size. This restaurant truly stands for the phrase – good things come in small packages. Sammy Sosa is a small Mexican joint located in the suburbs of Mumbai.

It is easy to miss if you are just driving by but if you do get in the restaurant, the food will ensure you that you keep coming back for more. It is one of the most authentic Mexican joints in Mumbai.

They serve all Mexican and some Continental dishes but without a doubt, their nachos, chimichangas and fajitas steal the show. The nachos with beans are set on bed of beans that are cooked to perfection, the nachos are crisp, the gooey cheese is abundant and the salsa is fresh.

One of their latest innovations, Taco Bowl is something that is not on different but it immediately strikes a chord when you see the presentation. In bowl-shaped taco, rice, vegetables or chicken along with beans, and salsa is served. The dish is a must-try.

This place has become a favorite of restaurant-goers, especially because of their welcoming and warm staff and pocket-friendly prices.

3. Starboard – Taj Mahal Palace (Colaba)

If you are amongst the people who don’t even want to try anything but the most authentic of the Mexican food available and don’t mind paying whatever price for the food, then think no more and head straight to Taj’s Mexican restaurant – Starboard.

They serve only Mexican food and nothing else and so the authenticity of the place is maintained.  Nachos, quesadilla, pescado, tortillas and every other dish they make is truly Mexican.

The most important feature of the restaurant, apart from the food is definitely their cocktails and drinks. Every drink that they serve is great and the bar-juggling will blow your mind. They have a very well-equipped Mexican bar.

Live band performances and DJ nights are frequent. So while you enjoy your Mexican food and a great drink, you can also shake a leg!

4. Mexiloco (Colaba)

A McDonald’s like Mexican joint, Mexiloco is one of the cheapest places where you can get good quality Mexican food.

We must warn you that it may not be the most authentic Mexican food you’ve tasted and the Indian taste creeps in here and there but overall, the cute little joint is perfect for college going students and a quick-bite.

They serve everything from nachos, empanadas, tacos, burritos etc. Their chilli con carne nachos and lamb con carne burrito are the popular dishes. The quantity is not that great but given how cheap the food is, the quantity is quite excusable.

But even then, the management is kind enough to listen to your suggestions and that makes the place all the more great. So for a quick bite, the place is a great option.

Of course, there are other places like Hard Rock Cafe, Bombay Blue, Big Bang Bar & Cafe etc which serve Mexican food but these places offer Mexican cuisine only as a part of their bigger menu.
