HMD Global, the parent of Nokia is expected to launch the Nokia 8.1 today in Dubai. With each post leading to the launch, Nokia has said “Something Smarter is coming”
Alongside the 8.1 is the global variant of the Nokia 3.1 Plus and the Nokia 5.1 Plus. The event will be streamed online Nokia’s Youtube channel.
Many speculations on the internet have hinted that the Nokia 8.1 is actually the rebranded version of the Nokia X7 as the material, colour and size of both devices are the same.
If both devices are similar, then the Nokia 8.1 will be a 6.18-inch notched device with 1080p resolution, Nokia PureDisplay as well as SDR to HDR video conversion in real time.
Also, since the X7 has 86.5 % screen to body ratio (according to the company) then the same is expected of the Nokia 8.1.
The device is expected to be powered by the relatively new Snapdragon 710 SoC while memory options are either 4 GB of RAM space + 64 GB of storage space or 6 GB of RAM space and 128 GB of storage space.
Also expected are dual 12 MP Sony IMX363 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and a 13 MP sensor with an f/2.4 aperture camera. The selfie device is also expected to be 20 MP sensor.
For the battery, a 3500 mAh battery with 18W fast charger won’t be bad. The device will run on Android 8.1 pending Android 9 update
