The Air series tend to keep things affordable for consumers although many functionalities are sacrificed.
The Tecno Spark 5 Air brings with a massive display and good battery life. Let us take a look at its features and specifications, shall we?

In terms of design, the Tecno Spark 5 Air seems like the taller version of the Tecno Spark 5 though some changes have been made. Fist of all, you get the waterdrop infinity V design instead of the hole in screen design on the Tecno Spark 5.
The top of the frame does well to hold the speaker grille and two LED flash on either side of it for night shots. The chin is quite small. At this point, seems like no one is worried full 100% screen to body ratio as the chin helps provide structural integrity.
The resemblance with the Tecno Spark 5 I mentioned earlier actually shows at the rear side of the phone. The camera placement and brand labels are all same though the camera module has been reduced.
There are three cut out spaces but only two contain lenses and the third is for decorative purposes. The quad LED flash sits in the second column in the setup.
The fingerprint follows in the middle. The sides hold the sim tray and buttons. The base holds the speaker, mic, charging port, and a 3.5mm jack. The made with polycarbonate material and plastic frame. The front glass protection is unknown.
The smartphone or should I say phablet has a massive 7 inch LCD display panel, arguable the largest offered by Tecno to date. This may also set precedence for other Tecno devices as some new expected features are usually tested with the Spark Series (Tecno Phantom I see you).
the large display didn’t get Tecno to bump up the display resolution though as the left it at 720 x 1640 pixels resolution. It is quite a surprise though as most budget air variants usually get 480 pixels. The large display didn’t get it an over 90% screen-to-body resolution as it is around 85%.
One would have loved to play games on this screen but the resolutions wouldn’t do it any justice, neither will the performance chips that came with the phone. Information about the graphics chip has been scarce, but all indications point to the IMG PowerVR GE8320 which isn’t exactly built for gaming.
Tecno Spark 5 Air camera modules were seriously toned down if we were to consider the Tecno Spark 5 specifications. The device comes with a 13MP main rear shooter with a QVGA camera whose function is not stated.
Though the company brags about its AI camera software one may need to be careful though not to expect too much from this device’s camera.
The selfie camera features an 8MP camera module which is fair in my opinion. Yeah, this is Tecno, they could have used a 5MP lens if they had chosen to so kudos to them.
Hardware and Memory Specifications
The hardware specifications of this phone have been an issue of controversy as the official website and many reviewers claim two different things.
Tecno claims the Tecno Spark 5 Air comes with an octacore chipset MediaTek Helio Processor clocked at 2.0GHz and suspected to be the Helio P22 but most reviewers claim the device has a quad-core Helio A22 chip.
I do believe it is the Helio A22 chip as using the Android 10 Go OS on the Helio P22 will be a total waste. We will just have to wait till we get our hands on the device before we update this part.
The RAM space is 2GB and there is 32GB of storage space available. Like all phones, A part of the memory is occupied by the OS. There is an external SD space for the expansion of memory with a memory card.
OS, Connectivity/Sensors and Battery
The Tecno Spark 5 Air uses the Android Q Go OS running under its HiOS skin. The skin comes with software optimizations and features and also third-party apps and ads that serve as part of the deal to sell their phones at a cheaper rate.
The smartphone has 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, hotspot,Bluetooth, USB 2.0. The sensors available are, G-Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor, Proximity Sensor, and Fingerprint Sensor.
The Tecno Spark 5 Air comes with a 5000mAH battery and there is no mention of fast charge anywhere. The LCD display may consume a little more battery but using the Android 10 dark mode should help keep that in check.
