Brief Guide to Boost Your Website’s SEO Ranking

Organic growth of your customer base may seemingly be a slow process. However, there are a few things that you can do to hasten the process even if by the slightest.

The technology world is now dynamic and fast-paced. Keeping up with the latest emerging trends to make the most out of these technological advancements can, therefore, prove to be a rather daunting task. This is true for SEO best practices.

People are constantly adapting and changing things up in this field. It is, therefore, safe to say that there is often no clear-cut SEO rule book as these tend to change rather rapidly. So, you need to always stay abreast with the latest changes in the Online SEO world.

One of the best and trusted ways to grow a meaningful customer base is to let it happen organically. Note, we are not telling you to be lazy about marketing and positioning your site and consequently your business.

We are indeed saying, put your best foot forward and let people find you. In the online world, visibility is everything. If you are not visible, you are not relevant. It really is that simple. While organic growth may take time, there are a few things you can do to hasten the process.

Make Your Site User-Friendly

Yes, user experience is an important determinant of search engine rankings. The logic here is simple. The less amount of time users spend on a site, the less relevant this site is.

Think about it, if you visit a store that lacks what you need, or is difficult to navigate through would you stay? The experience a user has on your site will determine the time spent and therefore usefulness. If he or she found the site useful then they are likely to keep coming back and spreading the word about it.

The benefits here are in two folds. First, you benefit from free advertising. Secondly, you get to improve your search engine rankings.

Since search engines will view the time spent on your site as a determinant of usefulness, it will increase the likelihood of your site being presented amongst the most relevant sites.


Take a step back and examine your site as well as collecting feedback about the general user experience. This will help you figure out what aspect of the site needs working on to improve the user’s general experience.

It could be your site design, speed, content or the general visual aesthetic or lack thereof that could be dragging you down.

Voice Search is Your Friend

We live in a world of conveniences. It is no wonder that the use of voice commands is gaining popularity. For your site to be competitive it needs to factor in voice search functionality.

Understanding the needs and characteristics of those using voice functions of various devices to search the internet will go a long way.

One such characteristic is the tendency to resort to long-tailed keywords. Since they are speaking and not typing, they will tend towards longer phrases. With this understanding, you will create content for your site that makes use of long-tailed keywords as well as their shorter counterparts.

Content Does Matter

Keywords alone will not win you the visibility you seek. The content within which these keywords are embedded needs to be up to par.

While keywords enable your site to potentially be a suitable answer to an internet user’s question, they can be a potential downfall.

Using these keywords and phrases unnecessarily within the content makes it look haphazard. Search engines translate this as lack of relevance. A frequency of two to three uses of these key phrases or words with your content is sufficient.

The content itself needs to have some structure to it. It needs to flow in a logical manner to make it readable and easy to understand. Most importantly, it needs to meet the needs of your target audience.

If the latter is lacking in your content then people are likely to brush over your site and move on to look for more relevant options. To make your message easier to find, it is important to categorize your content into topics.


Say you update your site’s content on a monthly basis. Instead of trying to cram information about all sorts of things in that monthly post, why not come up with a schedule? Decide what core subject your content shall be on for every month.

While at it, try and make the content you are putting out as detailed and as accurate as possible. In doing so, you will have a more organized flow when creating content as you only have one focal point. An added advantage to doing so is that you get to keep your site relevant and fresh throughout the year.
